Surrounded by a lake and mature trees in the City Park, this romantic castle is the perfect place to hide away. Walk around it and soak up the unique atmosphere of a dream-like building that seems to have come from the tale of Sleeping Beauty.
This beautiful palace is an assemblage of features copied from several historic buildings, originally built as a temporary pavilion for the Hungarian Millennium Exhibition of 1896. The pavilion was such a success that it was later built out of stone. Certain rooms can be rented for weddings and receptions.

Walk along the Chain Bridge by night towards Buda and climb to the top of the tunnel which, as the joke goes, was built ‘to pull the bridge into, if it rains’. Nowadays this is a popular romantic spot with a breathtaking panorama. At the other end, overlooking Buda, there is a café and restaurant (‘Manna Lounge’), great for first dates – or those that come later.

The section of the Pest riverfront between the Elisabeth and Chain bridges is called Dunakorzó by Budapesters. In addition to the superb panorama there are half a dozen terraces, and – a favourite with visitors and locals – the bronze statue of ‘The Little Princess’. After a long romantic walk, have a candlelit dinner in one of the elegant restaurants, or go on one of the sightseeing cruises departing from here. It is the best at dusk – the scents of the river seem to be more intense then.
A candlelit dinner aboard a boat on ‘the Blue Danube’ is a unique experience. One of these is a 75-metre-long, purpose-built vessel called ‘Spoon’. Its exclusive café and lounge were designed with a keen eye to detail, from wall decoration to cutlery. Have a drink or a cigar after dinner on the top deck. It is located opposite Hotel Inter-Continental.

A glass pavilion in a courtyard in the picturesque Buda Castle District, with a tiled stove in the centre. The name is a combination of the words ‘literature’ and ‘tea’. A great place for dates, especially with partners who tend to arrive late.
